5th April 2013 – I’ve done Zelzate and Terneuzen. I had some time left and decided to have a look in Ghent. This was also the third and last day of the course I was following…
4th April 2013 – Ghent is not far from Terneuzen, so I drove around to check for boats. While driving, I quickly stopped since the Viking was sailing. She is one of the water supply vessels from Terneuzen. Till 2003, the Watergeus joined her.
3rd April 2013 – While I was in Ghent for an IT course, I decided to see what vessels were dry docked in Zelzate. When I arrived, I met an old friend who lived his dream and bought a brand new Luxe Motor. It is a replica, you know it because there are no rivets. Beside that, you wouldn’t see it at all. It is fantastic little ship. I could live on it straight away!
I left after a few drinks and forgot to take some pictures of his ship…
31st March 2013 – In the morning I finished removing most of the rust and flaky paint. I started painting a coat of primer in the afternoon, but had to stop. Little snow was falling, so I gave up!
30th March 2013 – The outside of the accommodation wasn’t painted for two years. I have been welding and cutting, mounting new windows, etc… Most of the paintwork was in a bad condition. Time to remove it and give it a good coat of new paint.
By the end of the evening, most of the paint was gone. To do something else to finish the day, I made a box around the pump and boiler, and I mounted two gauges for the engine.
20th March 2013 – The cold weather continues. It is hard to work, since I have to do a lot of outside work at the moment. I haven’t taken any pictures of the progress, but they will follow.
17th March 2013 – I’m running behind on any schedule you could imagine. I will update the blog and conversion work whenever I have some time. Progress on the Hornblower continued, but very slowly.
I was in Furnes today to have a look at some boats. There were less boats then in 2007. The old yard of André looks like it was used yesterday. What a shame the site closed down. How long will it take before flats will rise on this piece of heritage…
11th March 2013 – Time to start working again. It is snowing and cold. First of all I drained all the water from the pipes in the bathroom. They are not leaking and I like to keep it that way!
9th March 2013 – Anna invited me for a theater production in Brussels. I wanted to visit a spits barge, so I combined both events with Filip and made a day out in Brussels.
There are a few houseboats in Brussels and some more in Anderlecht, next to Brussels. I had a look and was surprised to see a collection of different vessels.
It was becoming late, so the quality of the pictures is not that good.
2nd March 2013 – The first steps of plumbing have been done. This involves in buying a lot of fittings! Once I’ve got them, they were mounted. At the end of the evening, it was a bit disappointing there were so many leaks. Only a few were solved. To be continued.
2nd March 2013 – As every Sunday, I have been driving around to see boats, this time I went to Kortrijk and Antwerp.
1st March 2013 – I taught the bedroom was a difficult area, but the bathroom is even worse. So many corners, shapes, profiles and angles. It consumes a lot of wood and time to get it right.
28th February 2013 – There were not many updates. I’ve been working to finish the bathroom as fast as I could. Tomorrow I start the plumbing with some help. If this works, it is time to finish this room as well.
22nd February 2013 – While my mother vanished the wooden details and frames of the windows in the bedroom, I worked in the bathroom. Once the shower cabin is finished, I can start painting the whole bathroom and put the floor down.
