20th August 2016 – I just went to Antwerp with a friend, driving around, looking for boats, wrecks, projects, etc… Had a few beers in some local bars.

26th June 2016 – It is very busy at the moment. Whenever I have some time, I’m filling up the gap between December 2015 and now. If some links are broken, just let me know. I’m cleaning up the site.
19th June 2016 – Today we went to Ghent. A friend of mine asked for some advice on salvaging a sunken spits barge. When we arrived, I realized there was little to no hope to get this thing afloat without taking risks of spending a lot of money.
In the afternoon, we made a walk in Ghent and, as usual, I took some pictures.
8th June 2016 – I finished work on the ‘Op Hoop van Zegen‘ and went to my car when I noticed the Carpe Diem was listing badly. I had a closer look and it certainly didn’t look right. The owner is someone I know, so I called him. He would come tomorrow, but I explained to him it was a matter of hours as she was listing. He came 20 minutes later. There was no water visible on the floor, but when the hatch near the bulkhead was open we noticed a lot of water. After pumping for halve an hour, I called another friend with a better pump. In the meantime, the outlets for kitchen and sink were under water. I took a dinghy and went in the water to seal them.
7th May 2016 – Boating is more then just cruising a ship or converting one. It is often the social life around it that makes it a fantastic hobby. The tug Lena came from Ghent and we organized a BBQ in Beernem. Together with some friends it was a great evening!
5th December 2015 – Working on a ship is great, having a party even better! There is an old lightship in Bruges, called Mayflower. There was a birthday party of some friends and I had a great time!
1st November 2015 – My parents came to remove some more vanish from the old accommodation. The cabinet at the the other side is totally rotten. Even the metal is badly corroded and nearly gone. I will dry out this area for a a few weeks before looking for a solution.
I tried finishing the kitchen area as much as possible. Two more walls needed a coat of primer. Once this was done, I painted the floor.
19th October 2015 – I’m trying to catch up again…. So far, I ave spent most of my time on the Aquarel. Working on several things the same time like the hold and the back accommodation. Also doing the plumbing.
I’ve just added several photos for September and October.
14th October 2015 – Part of a long gone past, they towed an old minesweeper from Ostend to Bruges. I’ve known her as a minesweeper, a ship from the Scouting in Ostend, a private conversion and now as a poor empty hull.
3rd October 2015 – To change my minds and to update my photo collection I went to Terneuzen. Just drive around and take some pictures…
5th September 2015 – We had the chance to join for a trip on the Spits barge Low Budget. Mildred came with her kid, so we decided to get off at Beernem. Any longer is boring for a child and even me…
I showed her the Aquarel and the progress on the conversion.
21st August 2015 – What is more relaxing then sitting on the front deck of a traditional french spits barge while it is cruising on the canals? Sunny weather, no wind and the engine running smoothly…
I decided to make a movie of the skipper and the whole journey. I mounted around ten camera’s on the ship.
7th August 2015 – For the first time this year, I organized a BBQ with several of my friends who helped me during a difficult period. So many people helped me I’ll organize a second one later this month.
1st August 2015 – We had our annual Kolenkaai Feesten. All neighbours of the houses and the boat people who come together for a drink, barbecue and a concert.
18th July 2015 – Another month has passed since the last update. Once my study room on the Watergeus will be redone, I hope to update on a more regular base. I didn’t stop working since last month. Have a look at some of my progress.
