Sunken barge in Ghent

19th June 2016 – Today we went to Ghent. A friend of mine asked for some advice on salvaging a sunken spits barge. When we arrived, I realized there was little to no hope to get this thing afloat without taking risks of spending a lot of money.

In the afternoon, we made a walk in Ghent and, as usual, I took some pictures.

MS Weesp III – Carpe Diem listing

8th June 2016 – I finished work on the ‘Op Hoop van Zegen‘ and went to my car when I noticed the Carpe Diem was listing badly. I had a closer look and it certainly didn’t look right. The owner is someone I know, so I called him. He would come tomorrow, but I explained to him it was a matter of hours as she was listing. He came 20 minutes later. There was no water visible on the floor, but when the hatch near the bulkhead was open we noticed a lot of water. After pumping for halve an hour, I called another friend with a better pump. In the meantime, the outlets for kitchen and sink were under water. I took a dinghy and went in the water to seal them.

BBQ in Beernem

7th May 2016 – Boating is more then just cruising a ship or converting one. It is often the social life around it that makes it a fantastic hobby. The tug Lena came from Ghent and we organized a BBQ in Beernem. Together with some friends it was a great evening!

Aquarel – Working in the old accommodation

1st November 2015 – My parents came to remove some more vanish from the old accommodation. The cabinet at the the other side is totally rotten. Even the metal is badly corroded and nearly gone. I will dry out this area for a a few weeks before looking for a solution.

I tried finishing the kitchen area as much as possible. Two more walls needed a coat of primer. Once this was done, I painted the floor.

A trip with the Titine

21st August 2015 – What is more relaxing then sitting on the front deck of a traditional french spits barge while it is cruising on the canals? Sunny weather, no wind and the engine running smoothly…

I decided to make a movie of the skipper and the whole journey. I mounted around ten camera’s on the ship.
