12th September 2021 – We had 181 people visiting the ship today. I didn’t make that much publicity since people had to book. I’m extremely happy with the result!
11th September 2021 – We were open for a select group of members from Herita. There was a guided tour aboard Tordino, the vessels in front of me and to finish, we ended up in ‘t Spaans Tolhuis were some fol music was played.
10th September 2021 – We moved the anchor to Tordino, where it will serve as part of the entrance. Since we have no heavy equipment, it was done by hand….
9th September 2021– Normally I don’t allow visitors alongside and certainly not a rental boat. I made an exception, we had a nice chat and everyone happy!
8th September 2021 – Two small jobs done today. I finished the little table for my living room. It was an old table I cut up and shortened so it fits for my chess board.
In the afternoon, I mounted the mast I bought a few weeks ago. It is looking fine. Let’s see if it holds. It was to warm to work so I gave up working and went looking for some shadow underneath some threes.
4th September 2021 – The models are now nicely visible behind glass. So no dust nor damage can be done to the models.
3rd September 2021 – The glass was mounted and the models are now visible to the public. The plan to build the wall was for October but since I had the models and moving them was to fragile, it was build in two days. I’m happy with the result.
I still have a nice wooden mast on top of my van. I made a metal support and will bolt this next to my ship for Open Monumentendag.
1st September 2021 – I had to cut a little piece of the frame so the glass could fit. Now that the woodwork is done, my mother could start painting the whole area. Late in the evening, I already mounted a few models.
31st August 2021 – I removed the big model of the ship’s elevator of Thuin. I want to rebuild the entrance (again) with ships models I recently bought. Therefore I bought some glass, wood and I just started the job. Surprisingly most was done by the end of the evening.
27th August 2021 – I received a large number of ship models from sailing and navy ships. They are not suited for the museum since it has no relation to inland vessels. I can’t keep them in open air and ordering a glass cover for each of them is to expensive and not realistic. I started rebuilding my living room, not sure yet where to put the other ones….
26th August 2021 – I had another group of visitors coming for team building activity.
25th August 2021 – Such a beautiful morning…. I make a walk every evening, but decided to make one this morning as well. So nice, it reminds me a bit of the first days in April when I started working for the Canals. I know it is still summer but it already feels like Autumn.
21st August 2021 – I added some flags to the site of Tordino. I no time, people stop and have a look. One reason to hang up even more flags in the future!
31st July 2021 – Last week, I salvaged an old table from the canal. I now installed it in my kitchen. I used the old adjustable table leg from the Stern. So I got a free table, twice the size of the original one for free!
We had another nocturne event in the evening. It was a success and people were happy!
