7th September 2019 – Some small thinks like hovering, removing some dust and moving unused stuff were done this morning. I had a nice visit from some old skippers. They liked it, so they made my day!
6th September 2019 – The top of the roof was painted green. A job started in February, but never got finished. The fuseboxes were connected to the power and now I have proper 220v in every compartment. A major step forward in safety aboard.
3rd September 2019 – I had two meetings aboard the Tordino concerning heritage and cooperation on projects. While waiting the cruise vessel 4 Vaargetijden came alongside. They were surprised I didn’t do difficult them mooring alongside. I explained them I was a museum and not just a houseboat. They understood me…
2nd September 2019 – On Friday, we will install new fuse boxes on Tordino. The old electricity is working, but unreliable. The back accommodation nearly has no 220v power, or it runs from inverters. I pulled a cable from the bow thruster area to the back accommodation.
In the evening I continued with the computers aboard. I’m getting short in time, so I just mounted them as quick as possible.
1st September 2019 – IT is my business, but my attitude of “I’ll make it” is not really working. I still have a lot to do for Open Monumentendag and my whole week is fully packed.
Besides working with the computers and preparing the videos, I also had other items to finish. Plenty of new objects were placed aboard. They hadn’t been labelled, so this was also done today.
The flags in the mast lasted a supper, time to replace them and to mount the Open Monumentendag flag as well!
31st August 2019 – I drove to Leidendorp to have a good chat with an old skipper. He was selling a model of a ship similar to Tordino and promised me to make another one next year.
In the afternoon I drove to Sluiskil were some friends had their ship. It was a nice afternoon. They had collected some stuff for me in the last couple of years. It was time to meet them again.
On the way home I stopped at some old friends, but nobody was home.
28th August 2019 – Open Monumentendag is coming closer. The Library is still filled up with books and computers for the event. Most of it is now sorted out.
I made some more space at the front of the ship, where a part of the archives are stored. Two weeks ago I bought some archive cupboards for and temporary put them in the back accommodation. I will move them over the weekend.
10th August 2019 – Last week, we mounted the computer screens, today I finished two computers already and mounted them to the screens. Some more books were added to the inventory.
20th July 2019 – The anchor winch was painted. Some paintings were mounted and books sorted out in the Library.
19th July 2019 – We started cleaning the anchor winch of the Arma by removing the old paint. The winch started leaking and there was no other option but to empty the oil tank. Most of the tank was filled with water, but at the end, I hoovered out around 120 litres of dirty substance.
It was primered in the afternoon.
12th July 2019 – I got the anchor winch back from the Hornblower. I bought it in 2011, but it never really got in use. Now it is time to restore it to her original condition and put her in the museum.
7th July 2019 – While I was open to the public, I ran the engine for over one hour, including the steering system. It had been a while and no issues came up!
16th May 2019 – They called me at lunch time. There was a big oil spill in the canal near Tordino and asked me to check if it came from my ship. I was pretty sure my ship was fine, but decided to go there anyway. I was at the other side of the country, so it took me hours to get there.
When I arrived, we noticed the oil was coming from anther mooring behind the Keersluis.
