3rd June 2018 – Starting to feel a bit better. My father continued sanding the old paint on the outside, while I worked in the Library building a support for the models for the next exhibition in September.
20th May 2018 – A busy day! My father continued painting the den of the ship, while my mother varnished the old cabin in the hold. I finished some more exposition tables and built seven IKEA cupboards. The ship models are now stored away while I do the last conversion in the Library Room. There will be a permanent exposition on Belgian maritime heritage.
The LED spot lights are also mounted. Nearly there!
19th May 2018 – The first part of the den was painted with a red primer. I continued building tables for the exposition and cleaned the hold.
16th May 2018 – Just went shopping to Ikea. It is the quickest way to get light fittings, bulbs and cheap furniture to put behind the desks. If I have to make these storage units by myself, it would cost me at least triple the price in materials….
15th May 2018 – The kitchen and bedroom on the old accommodation are nearly finished. I want it to look as traditional as possible with the right decoration and furniture. It took me some time, but it starts to look good!
Later that evening, I rebuilt the fake den for the old hatches. It was moved several times and got damaged.
12th May 2018 – Most of the wood in the hold is now painted. While my parents did the last wall, I continued building the kitchen in the old cabin. Even a fake kitchen takes it time to be built.
11th May 2018 – There could be no warmer day to work outside then it was today. We opened the hatches and insulated the ceiling. Looks simple, but it took a lot of time and I was well burnt by the sun.
10th May 2018 – Just painting the hold today. A few more days and it should be finished.
Some tools and spare parts were moved to the front of the boat. At least, people now have an impression ow how it will look in a few weeks time!
1st May 2018 – I started with filling a few small joints in the wood. Later that day, we finished the electricity and the ceiling. In the evening, I built two more tables for showing objects in the hold. I closed the day by hovering and cleaning up.
