10th December 2010 – Instead of working, I started making some drawings for the kitchen in the back accommodation.
8th December 2010 – After more then two years I finally started finishing the panels for the instrumentation aboard the Watergeus. I still needed to make a nice wooden panel for my VHF, my music radio, etc…
6th December 2010 – The shower was tiled today. The back accommodation starts to make a difference.
5th December 2010 – The part of the back accommodation that needs to be done the most is the sitting area. I need to finish the pine wood and the ceiling. I tried doing both today.
4th December 2010 – I just received the news that one of the neighbours and close friend, Rogianne Gaytant has passed away after a tragic bus accident in Peru.
3rd December 2010 – Imagine a foggy day with temperatures up to 13°C below the freezing point! Well that was our journey to Bruges. No snow and no wind, that was what I remembered that morning on the weather station. Temperature would even go to 2°C above freezing point.
When we left Wachtebeke, after a few minutes fog came up. It was so thick we could hardly see the bow of the ship. Barges moored along the canal and land was invisible. We sailed slowly and decided to wait till the weather was better before crossing the big canal Ghent-Terneuzen.
2nd December 2010 – The whole day I was nervous. It was extremely cold, all the roads were dangerous. I didn’t want to take the risk of driving anywhere.
A neighbour brought a new battery for me. Thanks Jan!
I went to the shop looking for anti freeze, start pilot and other tools. Tomorrow is a big day.
1st December 2010 – I’m away tomorrow, sailing on Friday and I haven’t prepared a single thing. I need fuel, gearbox oil, food, tools, paperwork and a lot more.
27th November 2010 – I went cleaning the yacht in Ghent and made her ready for the big trip tomorrow to Ghent. She is a small ship but the amount of work that needs to be done is huge!
While cleaning, I managed to flip the fuse of the electricity several times. A hoover or a water cooker were to strong. I’ll be glad when I can leave this mooring.
26th November 2010 – Since I have a small car I had to sort out what tools I might need tomorrow aboard the yacht. Last time, for the Frantsis we had a large car that was filled up to the roof. Now I only have a third of the space.
Besides that, the weather isn’t looking good…
22nd November 2010 – Another wall in the back accommodation is finished. One more to go, the last one.
21st November 2010 – Finishing the walls with tongue and grove is a boring job. After a while you it becomes so repetitive. It looks good when it is finished and that is the most important thing!
20th November 2010 – Since I build the shower myself, the wooden construction needs to be waterproof. My sheets of multiplex are waterproof, but actually that is only the glue they used to fabricate them. Therefore a seal has been glued over the sheets. It needs to dry a day, so I’ll see when I continue tiling the shower area.
17th November 2010 – The workbench in the engine room was extended so I could mount the water pump. There is also enough space for some tools like spanners and screw drivers. I still have to paint the new construction in case I ever have a leak. The wood will be protected.
The plans for the little yacht are finished. I now have to draw them in scale, once this is done I’ll post the plans.
17th November 2010 – There had been no updates for some time. I sold the Frantsis and bought a yacht from the 20’s. I worked hard in the back accommodation of the Watergeus and had some personal issues. Updates will follow more quickly again!
