30rd August 2017 – Just driving up and down with some more stuff. I think one of the most annoying things during the conversion of a ship is getting stuff aboard.

30th August 2017 – Found some time again to update this site. It has been a few months since the last update. I have been working nearly every day on Tordino to get her ready for the 10th September 2017. There will be an exhibition about the history of Inland shipping.
27th August 2017 – Like I already mentioned earlier, besides working on the ship, I also need to take care of the content for the exhibition. I bought a few old photo albums in Sas van Gent, not far from where I’ve lived on the Watergeus. The seller also had the letters DOUANE from the customs office in Zelzate. They will look good aboard Tordino.
22nd August 2017 – I was surprised to see what I’ve done in four hours of work. Not much. I’m hanging the old tools on wooden panels. It takes much more time then expected. Just hope to be ready on time for the 10th September 2017. Also realized I have to build a work bench to show some of my tools.
26th August 2017 – Finishing and hanging frames
25th August 2017 – Work table and smaller things
23rd August 2017 – Building work bench
21st August 2017 – Just went to Ghent to get some stuff for the museum. While I was there, I took some pictures. In the evening, I ordered some prints of my photos for the exhibition. There is still so much stuff to do!
20th August 2017 – Working till nighttime
19th August 2017 – We moved the ship in the morning. The entrance of the hold should be better positioned now, so people can get easily aboard. Since my neighbour didn’t want to move and the gangway would be on his garden, I moved Tordino. Even if people try to make it hard, I always try to find a solution…
18th August 2017 – The door between the workshop and the Library room is mounted.
Some more details were done around the replica of the den and I mounted some equipment in the wheelhouse.
17th August 2017 – Two name signs were mounted. It took some time since they were heavy and had to be hang on top of the wall. I put some hard wooden strips around corners and doors where needed.
16th August 2017 – A short day of working. Doing small bits a bit everywhere. I also started cleaning the hold by moving everything to the workshop.
15th August 2017 – A short day of work. Mainly doing smaller things like cleaning an old wood burning stove for the wheelhouse…
14th August 2017 – While I was in Amsterdam getting some books for my Library aboard Tordino, I stopped in Zaandam to have a quick look on the Aquarel.
She was looking good, but a bit squeezed in between two other ships. I was a bit disappointed about the paintwork of the hull. For a sandblasted ship which was coated with epoxy, I found red paint coming through on several locations. Something must have gone wrong during this process.
