Month: January 2019
23rd January 2019 – I had a look at Tordino in the morning. I got stuck with my car, a few hundred meters before getting to the ship. A local farmer helped me out. Power was still on, so I hope everything is fine.
22nd January 2019 – This morning I drove to Tordino to check the ship. It was fine. There was a commercial barge alongside. On the way to work, it started snowing.
When I got back in the evening, most snow was gone, so I had no pictures taken of my ships in the snow.
21st January 2019 – The electric heather in the bowhtruster area didn’t go on. When I arrived that morning, I put it higher. In the evening, it was still running. The hold has some condensation. I wished I had some better shore power to run a few more electric heathers.
The most important vitrines were covered to protect them.
19th January 2019 – We had our annual New year’s drink on the Terra Nova. She is moored in Vreeswijk, near Utrecht. It was a great afternoon. A person gave a nice overview of the steam paddle ships on the river Lek.
14th January 2019 – Sorting out books, putting them in the Inventory system and then get them in the Library. Eight boxes do take some time, but I’m getting there. Building a Library in less then two years means something!
7th January 2019 – We had our annual New Year’s drink with the boat people. The weather wasn’t right, and a lot of people didn’t show up. Nevertheless, we kept it going till midnight.
6th January 2018 – We went to Ghent to measure the Hornblower and see how to solve a few issues.
5th January 2019 – I just did a few small jobs like mounting the ships bell, drilling the holes for the namesigns on the bow and continued on the new bedroom.
4th January 2019 – While going to the yard as an unannounced visit, they were working hard craning out the bowthruster on the Arma. The front space and the engine room are now one big room, it starts to look good. While cutting out the bowthruster, they noticed the bottom of the engine room was doubled. They now have to weld both metal plates together before inserting a new one where the hole is. Another delay?
3rd Janaury 2019 – My neighbour moved the ship forward. He used new ropes and cleaned the quay. Everything looks better now. The officials will be happy, or at least that is what I hope.
