Stern – Cover over the roof

9th February 2020 – I drove to Ghent to put a cover over the roof of the cabin. I am afraid for rain and the possibility of the rotten roof to be blown away. Putting a cover on a windy day was not such a success. It looks even scruffier now, but it is for a better purpose.

Stern – Status

2nd February 2020 – What is happening with the Stern? Nothing at the moment. I’m making plans and I’m doubting if I should put a tempoary roof in plywood with a cover or just leave as it is and put the metal when I’m having some money.

I had the plan of going there today, but decided to finish Tordino first.

Stern – Cleaning

12th January 2020 – I got the keys of the Stern. My thought went I started and when I left were the same: where to start.  The engine started and this was the best part of the day. I got a diary of the previous owner with all the journeys and issues. There are a lot of things to fix. The hull is fine, but some parts of the deck are rotten and even the sides are not that good of the upper structure.

The bilges look reasonable dry and the interior has to go as quick as possible.

Before…

After…

I took out my high pressure cleaner and started removing the old paint, dirt and rust from the ship.  The deck is, besides port side, in a very good condition. I removed the old blue cover of the roof. I know it will  be leaking a bit more, but at least it looks better to the public.

Totally wet and cold, I left Ghent and went to Tordino to do some further conversion in the hold.

Stern – I just bought the ship

30th December 2019 – I just bought another ship. I have been looking twice at the ship and I don’t know why I just bought. It had a good running engine and that’s about the only positive element.  Maybe the price? Or just the idea to have something to do in the future? I don’t know…

Stern – Second visit

29th December 2019 – I called the owner and said I wanted to see the inside of the ship. He started the engine and it was running. Great to convince desperate people, but we had no idea where to look first. The bottom has so many pipes and fittings sticking out. It is like a ticking time bomb.  The size is good, I can stand up in the hold, but there is not much space left.  A project to do? I don’t know…

Stern – First visit

25th December 2019 – Recently, an acquaintance contacted me about a yacht in Ghent. His son has passed away and the ship needs to go. It was a 8.5 meters motor yacht with work on the outside and inside.  I went to Ghent and had a look. The boat isn’t looking that great at all. After ten minutes, I drove to some friends and forgot about it.
