28th July 2010 – It must be done, but it certainly is a boring job: cleaning the deck. Paint was removed between the fore deck and the front accommodation.

25th July 2010 – The front accommodation of the Watergeus exists of three areas, a working space with the water tanks, the front cabin and the fore peak. At the moment we are finishing the front cabin in the same style as the living room. The two other areas are for a later period, probably next year.
Nearly a year ago I bought some light armature for the living room, corridor, sleeping room and entrance. I was still using the old bulbs on a socket with a few wires. I finally changed this. A little job but a big difference!
24th July 2010 – Since I have some big plans in the near future with the Watergeus, I want the back accommodation to look as good as possible.
The whole weekend I had the help of my parents, so it was a productive period. While my father and I did the front area, my mother cleaned the back. I had been living for nearly four years in the back accommodation. It was surprising to see how much stuff I had collected and stored in that little area during those years…
15th July 2010 – It was getting time to work on the Watergeus again. A ship needs maintenance and somebody to take care of her. The front deck was cleaned and painted, or at least a part of it. Where rust was coming through on the spots I did earlier this year, I brushed the metal and put a new coat of primer.
16th May 2010 – I continued working in the forepeak, making a wooden frame and drilling holes in the ribs. After many attempts to make something in this area, I believe I’ll finish it this time. At least four times, I tried working in this area. After a few days I start doing something else and I reuse this area for storage. Now, I finally want to make a nice living area for visitors.
15th May 2010 – I removed all the paint from one side of the back accommodation. That’s the side where the wind is blowing the most and the condition of the ship is the worst…
In t he afternoon, I painted the new woodwork in the entrance and living room.
13th May 2010 – There are always small jobs that needs doing. The hold was finished, but a few little details needed doing. One of them was finishing the wood work in the skylight. Well, I’ve just done it.
7th May 2010 – In the evening I started with wood work in the front accommodation. Since the weather was rather looking good, I continued on the deck till late. The I realized I still had to do some preparations for the job tomorrow.
2nd May 2010 – Besides breaking down the tent and doing the dishes, I decided not to work on the boat. But I already know what to do the coming week…
1st May 2010 – Today was a nice day, the first BBQ of 2010 aboard the Watergeus. The weather was not exactly good, but it certainly didn’t ruin the event!
In the morning I built the party tent and yes, a cheap thing can do its work! Even much better then my construction.
30th April 2010 – The sail was nearly gone, so I bought a small party tent. I should have done this straight away.
29th April 2010 – The hatch was delivered for the entrance of the storage area. The brackets were welded and the hatch mounted. The supports for the ‘stoeltjes’ for a gangway were bolted on the den. In the evening I painted the hatch and it’s cover.
The chairs were a little to thick for the supports, so I had to narrow them down a bit with a grinder. I have always used glasses to do such a work and so I did this evening. Only a piece of metal got under the glasses in my eyes. I had to stop working, but luckily the metal go out my eye reasonable quickly. I believe this is one of the most scary moments in the last years.
It had been raining and the construction barely held it. I’m looking for another solution.
28th April 2010 – Nice weather is over, they are talking about bad weather for the coming weekend. So I decided to make a construction over the wheelhouse towards the entrance of the hold. The framework was solid, but that’s it. I used an old sail as cover.
27th April 2010 – The whole afternoon and evening, I continued cleaning my deck. It now looks good, a whole side has nearly been done. Since I’m having a party on Saturday for friends and girlfriend I want to have a nice looking boat.
24th April 2010 – I started cleaning the storage area where the hatch was built since a lot of dust came down while making the hole for the entrance.
In the afternoon I used my new water pump to clean the whole deck and hatches. It makes a difference with all the dust gone.
In the evening, mounted the chains to the crane on the foredeck. It now really starts to look like in the old days. I still need to paint the crane, but that’s for the future. One thing that I didn’t know: a chain costs a lot of money.
