15th August 2020 – Some small jobs were done, like building a frame in the skylight, finishing some wood around a porthole and solving an issue with a big dent in the hull above the waterline. It was something I first believed it was a crack, but after removing the old paint, it was just a big dent. I did put some silicone onto it to be sure…
14th August 2020 – I am always in for a journey aboard the Djoey. I wasn’t the skipper so I could have a drink…
14th August 2020 – The metal for the wheelhouse was delivered today. I made some plans how to cut the sheets, but haven’t started yet.
14th August 2020 – I quickly helped mounting a VHF antenna on the Djoey. Even with a longer antenna, the issue is the same. I think it is because the ship is to low in the water to hear any signal from a longer distance then 100 meters, but when I read the Internet it should be at least 3 km’s..
13th August 2020 – When friends of mine bought the Djoey, I never believed it would be used that much! I had many more ships but never used them that much as they do! There is an issue with the VHF, so I will have a look tomorrow. Now it is time for a drink!
13th August 2020 – I continued with the curved side of the living room, putting in insulation and finishing with t&g.
11th August 2020 – To hot to work, to hot to sleep. These were the issues I was having. I didn’t sleep much last night, was up to early and was getting nervous. I jumped into my little boat and started floating around taking pictures of my ships.
11th August 2020 – The Minart left at 5:30 in the morning and by the time they arrived at the first lock, the engine was boiling. We stopped and started working on the engine.
10th August 2020 – The last day of the Minart in Bruges, the new owners invited me for a drink. They are leaving tomorrow.
10th August 2020 – The new owner asked me to help picking up another engine for the Hornblower. Not really worth mentioning, but once the ship is moving again with her new engine, I might remember this post.
9th August 2020 – A few small jobs were done. I cleaned the bilges on starboard, cleared that side of the yacht and started building a frame for the insulation and t&g. Slowly getting there, but it is really to warm to work.
8th August 2020 – Another warm day, another bit of slow progress. Build the cupboard on starboard side. Did a bit of work in the morning and the rest in the late evening.
7th August 2020 – Today I noticed a beautiful ship passing by in Bruges. It was the tjalk ‘De Vrouwe Linda’, built in 1910. It was in commercial service until 1964 and then became a houseboat.
7th August 2020 – BBQ in Oudenburg
6th August 2020 – To warm to work, but doing nothing was not really an option. I filled the fuel tank in case I have the need to make a journey and I continued with some t&g for the sides of the living room. I hope to do more tomorrow morning when it is a bit colder….
