15th August 2016 – The old lifeboat was finally painted after all those years. I gave her a brown color. This looks more traditional and I had some brown paint left from the ‘Op Hoop van Zegen’ I just painted.

6th August 2016 – Another day of sanding down the back accommodation. Some parts are seriously rusty. I was surprised to see how quickly the situation can go backwards.
8th August 2016 – De greasing the whole back accommodation and giving it a coat of primer took me most of the day. I designed a support for the mast at the back of the ship and welded it. Looking forward to mount the mast!
11th July 2016 – Two more paint sessions on the Watergeus. I divided the den in several sections, makes the job more attractive to myself. I painted a section in the morning and one in the afternoon.
One of the decorative propellers on the front deck was still in bare metal. I put a coat on, so it doesn’t look rusty anymore. She doesn’t look great in a gray colour, but the metal is protected. As long as people don’t see rust, it is fine…
8th July 2016 – As a try-out, I painted one section of the den of the Watergeus in a gray hamerite based paint.
18th July 2015 – I only have half a day, so I decided to do some smaller jobs like cleaning the corridor and hovering the dust out. Since it is my living accommodation, I like keeping it clean.
The weather was fine and I had to paint around the portholes inside. So I started outside, the bow needed a good coat of paint. It was cleaned last year when my foot was broken, but never got any coat of paint. Once the bow was painted, I continued with the supports for the zwierbomen and two bollards. Since the inside is painted and all the insulation is gone, I don’t smell any burn smell anymore. Everything will come right at some point…
16th July 2015 – Half a days spent of finishing the floor. The small front area now looks much bigger. I put a coat of primer on the wood and now you get a good feeling about the size. Together with the front cabin, it could be a nice accommodation.
Anyway, I will use it as my new study room – library. The front area was one of the last non insulated areas aboard. There is one more, but since it is a storage unit, I’ll keep it bare metal for now.
15th July 2015 – I finished the ceiling in the front area. It was much more work then expected, but it always is on boats!
My father cleaned some old shipping floor (azobe wood) and I mounted it as my new floor. Every planks has a weight of 30 or more kilograms. Cutting is very hard and by the evening, only halve was done. Since I forgot my electric screw driver on the Aquarel, I could only shoot a few nails. Half of the nails bent in the wood.
12th July 2015 – Before I could continue I had to clean the remaining stuff from the front area. I had enough of moving it from one side to the other. One piece of decoration, the old name sign of the Ross Leopard, was mounted on the wall. The black letters on a white background give a special effect to the room. It also means a lot to me hanging that old board in my ship.
11th July 2015 – With a small hangover, I decided to continue shooting t&g to the walls and ceiling in the front accommodation. By the end of the evening most was done.
20th June 2015 – After a week of not being fit to work, I decided to try some work. The corridor between my workspace and the front of the ship is now nearly finished and covered with a coat of primer.
Outside on deck, the last black remains of the fire were repainted. I still need my new windows, but the deck and hull are looking better again.
13th June 2015 – Finally, not a windy day. Time to put the new cover over my terras. At least, I should be dry if it rains. The construction now gives me some extra dry storage as well 😉
6th June 2015 – The walls of the corridor between the study room and the front of the ship are nearly finished today. The insulation on the ceiling of the front was done and some of the plating.
7th April 2015 – At 6 o’clock in the evening, there was a fire on a yacht next to me. By the time the fire brigade had arrived the yacht was nearly burned out and the heat caused severe damage to parts of my ship, including the study room, several broken windows, smoke damage, etc…
I will not get into detail at this moment. The following pictures should tell you enough.
25th October 2014 – The last two months I started working on the Watergeus. It is difficult to update day-by-day, so I’m putting a small update together….
In the early days, a Luxe motor had a railing around the back accommodation. Mine was removed when she became a water supply vessel. Since I always want my ships to look as traditional as possible, a new railing was built.
While working around the back accommodation, we moved the blue sign behind the wheelhouse, as it once was. At least it looks better and I have more room between the wheelhouse and the tabernakels to walk.
In front of the wheelhouse is a terras. I want a cover over it so when it rains, I can still sit outside. It took some time, but the frame is now ready. I will order a cover next year.
I hadn’t paint the Watergeus for two to three years. Some parts were not maintained for longer. It was getting time to remove the old paint and rust. I was surprised to see how much damage rust can do in a short period.
